The regions covered by this project were selected primarily based on the prior expertise of the team involved. As a group of students mostly specialising in Eastern Europe and the Balkans we sought to create a cross-cultural examination of the national awakenings of the people we study. The sources below are separated by region, and then into the respective category they belong to: Folktales, poetry, and literature.

The material we have covered broadly spans from the early 19th century to the middle-late 20th century, covering the drastic transformations of these nations over said period.

The national-geographic sections below reflect the nation of the listed nation-states, rather than people living with the current geographic bounds of said states.
